The Tripp Lite BHDBT-K-E3SI-ER is an HDBaseT HDMI extender kit that carries 1080p video, 7.1 channel surround sound, Ethernet, RS-232 serial data, and IR control across a single Cat5e, Cat6, or Cat6a cable for runs as long as 500 feet. By combining video, audio, networking, and control on one cable, it lets you keep source equipment locked away in a rack while the display, touch panel, or projector sits where viewers can see it.
Full-resolution 1080p signals arrive at the remote screen with no noticeable degradation, and the kit maintains support for 3D video, EDID, and HDCP so handshakes between devices happen exactly as they would over a short HDMI patch cord. Audio formats such as DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD, and other 7.1 channel streams travel alongside the picture, giving installations the same cinematic impact they would have at the rack.
Built-in 10/100 Ethernet ports create a handy network extension between the transmitter and receiver, which is useful for IP cameras, interactive kiosks, or simply providing an extra network drop at the display. RS-232 and IR pass-through channels allow automation systems and handheld remotes to manage power, volume, and source selection without adding extra cabling.
