In 1972, after the Beatles had disbanded and each member's solo activities were well underway, with each of them regularly topping the charts, BBC Radio created a groundbreaking program. It was "THE BEATLES STORY," a long-form radio program that looked back on the trajectory of the Beatles, who were arguably the symbol of the 1960s. This program covered their history from their debut to their breakup, and even their solo activities up to 1972. The program was broadcast weekly as a 13-episode series. The Japanese broadcast version was aired on AM radio in Japan, so the sound quality is naturally monaural and has a typical AM radio feel. It cannot compare to the stereo sound quality of the British broadcast version, which is currently available, or the American broadcast version, which significantly cuts the post-breakup parts. However, the sound quality of this version is exactly the sound of the radio we used to listen to back then. This is full of nostalgia. Or perhaps it can be interpreted as a mono mix of "THE BEATLES STORY." And above all, the fact that you can enjoy the content of the program far more than the overseas versions thanks to the Japanese narration is a huge point. Even if it's a historical program, it's a high hurdle for us to keep listening to a long English narration. The fact that we can enjoy it so much will be a shock to the fans. In an era when there was no internet or smartphones, and everyone listened to the radio carefully. This is not just a Beatles history program, but a gem that allows you to time-slip into the nostalgic and peaceful era unique to Showa-era Japan!
