Signed first edition, first printing hardcover copy of Nine Headed Dragon River: Zen Journals 1969-1985 by Peter Matthiessen (Shambhala, 1986). Collection of Zen journals by the acclaimed adventurer, novelist and naturalist after learning the spiritual technique among others from Japanese Zen Masters. Includes ticket stub from meet and greet with the author where the book was signed. Jacket is protected in mylar sleeve but with some rubbing to cover and shelf wear around the edges. Small tears and creasing to bottom edge of jacket near spine. Boards are straight and clean with corners and spine ends slightly bumped. A few instances of mildly split binding and faintly slanted spine but binding remains fairly firm on the whole. Other than previous owner’s embossed personal library stamp on front endpaper, all pages are clean and unmarked though tanned. See photos for condition.
