An iconic mid-century modern vase or vessel. This item is styled and may be created by Italian artist Marcello Fantoni. Leather encased ceramic vase with a modernist deer design. Circa 1950s. Marcello Fantoni (1915-2011) was a Florentine artist who specialized in ceramics. He studied at the Art Institute in Florence, where Libero Andreotti and Bruno Innocenti were his sculpting professors and Gianni Vagnetti was his figurative art professor. Fantoni began to work as a ceramist in 1934, opening his factory in 1936. Dimensions: 11”h x 3.5”w. In very good vintage condition. There is slight discoloration on the leather on one small area. Look closely at all photos before purchase.
