The Intel SRCSASBB8I is a RAID controller card for servers and workstations that need storage management that is dependable and scalable. Its eight internal SAS or SATA ports can address as many as 32 hard drives or solid-state drives, giving administrators room to grow capacity without adding extra cards.

Hardware support for RAID 0, 1, 10, 5, 50, 6, and 60 lets you build arrays tuned for speed, redundancy, or a balance of both. This flexibility makes the controller a solid fit for transactional databases, media streaming, and general file servers that cannot afford downtime.

The card installs in a PCIe x8 Gen2 slot and moves data at up to 3 Gb/s per port. A 256 MB cache smooths write bursts and speeds rebuilds, a clear benefit in virtualized environments where many guests share the same storage pool.

Compatibility with Windows, Linux, Solaris, and VMware allows the SRCSASBB8I to integrate into almost any data center stack. The form factor follows the low profile MD2 specification and ships with both low profile and full-height brackets, so it fits slim rack servers as well as tower chassis. Intel also includes two MiniSAS cables and a quick start guide, letting you cable drives and bring arrays online right after installation.

Highlights:
  • Eight internal SAS or SATA ports connect up to 32 drives
  • Supports RAID 0, 1, 10, 5, 50, 6, and 60 for a choice of performance or redundancy
