The HPE BC022A is an internal tape drive that writes to LTO-8 Ultrium 30750 cartridges and fits a 5.25-inch half-height bay. It connects through a 6 Gb/s SAS interface, so it integrates smoothly with most rack-mount or tower servers.

Each cartridge can hold up to 30 TB of compressed data, and the drive sustains transfers of up to 300 MB/s. That capacity and speed make it practical for daily backups of large virtual machines, high-resolution video archives, or research data sets that need to move off primary storage without slowing down production workloads.

Hardware-based 256-bit AES encryption protects every file as it is written, while Write-Once, Read-Many support prevents accidental or malicious changes after the initial backup.
