The Scranton Lace Curtain Manufacturing Company began in the 1897 and closed its doors in 2002. Nottingham lace was woven by master weavers on the original looms, shipped from England in 1897 and continued to be made on those looms for over 100 years. From 1916 to 2002 the company remained the first and largest known producer of Nottingham Lace in the United States. The use of natural fibers accentuated the loft and dimension of the pattern and allowed the texture to improve with each washing.
