The Black Box EVCRB83-0001 is a one-foot Cat5e crossover patch cable that lets you move data quickly and reliably between devices that sit close together, such as two switches on the same rack or a pair of laptops on a workbench. It is tested to 350 MHz, far beyond the 100 MHz requirement of the Cat5e standard, so your Fast Ethernet or Gigabit links have extra headroom and less chance of dropped packets.

The cable uses 24 AWG stranded copper conductors that bend easily inside tight cabinets but still hold up under daily handling. Each RJ-45 plug has 50-micron gold-plated contacts that resist corrosion and maintain a solid connection through as many as 750 insertions, which is helpful in labs, classrooms, and test environments where cables are swapped often.

A molded snagless boot covers the latch on each connector, reducing strain and preventing the tab from catching when you pull the cable through cable managers or behind equipment. The bright red jacket makes the link easy to trace during troubleshooting or when you want to color-code different network segments.

Whether you are an IT professional wiring a data center, a technician building a test rig, or a home user linking two computers directly for quick file transfers, this cable delivers the performance and dependability you need without taking up excess space.

Highlights:

  • Exceeds the 100 MHz Cat5e specification; tested to 350 MHz for added signal integrity
  • One-foot (0.3 m) length for tidy connections in racks or on desktops
  • Supports data rates up to 1 Gbps
  • 50-micron gold-plated contacts maintain a low-resistance connection
  • Molded snagless boots protect the latch and relieve strain
  • 24 AWG stranded copper for flexibility and durability
  • Rated for 750 insertion and extraction cycles
