Vintage Irish double damask cloth napkins are 'Old Bleach ' and 'Double Damask '.
Set of 6 cloth napkins.
Irish damask is woven from pure flax yarns in a special way so subtle patterns are visible on a white tablecloth on both sides - more patterns shown as the light changes on the fabric. This one has been highlighted with hand colouring on a pattern of pheasants and retriever dogs. Beautiful quality at a fraction of the price of new. In good vintage condition, these cloths wash and iron beautifully.
Double damask is made by having a higher weft count than warp which allows a dense high thread fabric giving a finer definition. Made in Ireland, 1950-60’s by Old Bleach Linen Co. Randalstown North Ireland.
Very fine, valuable collectors item to match the tablecloth that you can also find on worth point or etsy.
