Nabeshima ware is one of the types of Japanese Arita ware of very high quality. The items were made in the feudal Nabeshima Kiln, located in today's Saga Prefecture. Nabeshima ware was not a currency, did not serve commerce, and was produced under the strict control of the Nabeshima family during the Edo period. Production began around 1700 and continued until the end of the 19th century, with similar items being produced by descendants of the craftsmen in other places. This production continues to this day.
