Antique cufflinks from 1936, featuring a boat racing motif.

The face features a motif of a "buoy," a lower cone shape with a red band on a white background. The lettering is also very finely rendered, demonstrating the high level of casting technology at the time.

The clasp on the back is a miniature of a realistically depicted oar. The shape of the boat oar is reproduced three-dimensionally.

These were made to commemorate the social water sports event "N.Y.K. REGATTA" hosted by Nippon Yusen Kaisha (N.Y.K.).
Nippon Yusen Kaisha held many elite social gatherings for diplomats, trading company employees, and wealthy people on foreign routes. Among them, "N.Y.K. REGATTA" was a major event where sailors, military personnel, and the upper class gathered to foster international exchange through boat racing.
